DSS must get to the root of the matter — Ayo Ojeniyi reacts to the CCTV footage of a 9-year-old girl
A popular Facebook publisher, Ayo Ojeniyi, has taken to his Facebook page to react to the CCTV footage of a 9-year-old girl in Abuja. The 9-year-old girl, whose name was withheld, was caught by the CCTV camera installed in Ebeano Supermarket, lighting up a gas cooker with a lighter, which later resulted in a fire outbreak and the destruction of N5bn goods. According to the footage, the incident happened around 7 a.m. While being interrogated by some officials, the girl revealed that she came to the store with her mother because they wanted to get something for her younger sister.

While she was asked why she set up the fire, she stated that she saw the gas cooker as a cooking material. While reacting to this, Ayo Ojeniyi decided to lend his opinion. According to him, he stated that something is behind the incident, adding that the Department of State Services must get to the root of the matter. Speaking further, he commented on one of the store's staff who was running helter-skelter during the fire outbreak. He made it known that had been fire extinguishers were installed in every corner of the store, the fire wouldn't have escalated to such an extent.
He, however, stated that insurance might not want to pay for the expenses since they saw the cause of the fire.

As we all know that it is wrong to detain a minor, how the damages wreaked on the store would be taken care of by the parents of the 9-year-old girl remains unknown.
